CONSERVATION EXPERIENCES

Wildlife conservation is not only about protecting animals in the wild. It also involves rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for animals that have been injured, orphaned, displaced or confiscated. Our Wildlife Care Expedition offers a behind-the-scenes look at the people, skills and dedication required to give these animals the best possible chance of survival.

This immersive expedition is designed for people from all walks of life who want to experience conservation beyond traditional game viewing. Travel through some of South Africa's important wildlife and conservation areas, meet the people working directly with animals and gain a deeper understanding of rehabilitation, wildlife management and conservation.

You will encounter a variety of species and conservation projects while learning from experienced rehabilitators, veterinarians, conservationists and field professionals. The emphasis is on understanding why wildlife care is necessary, how rehabilitation works and how individual animal welfare fits into the bigger picture of conservation.

As with all EcoLife expeditions, the programme remains flexible. Wildlife and conservation work cannot always be scheduled in advance, so activities may change according to weather, animal needs and opportunities in the field. The core objectives remain the same: to learn, participate and experience conservation first-hand.

ABOUT ECOLIFE

For the past 30 years, EcoLife Expeditions has been bringing people into the heart of wildlife conservation and veterinary science across Southern Africa. Our expeditions provide direct access to the field, where participants learn alongside experienced wildlife veterinarians, conservationists, researchers and rangers working on real-world conservation challenges. From wildlife medicine and veterinary procedures to rehabilitation, capture operations, disease management and conservation research, our expeditions connect scientific knowledge with practical experience. We believe the most meaningful learning takes place in the field, through direct involvement and interaction with the professionals doing the work. With small groups and carefully developed programmes, EcoLife offers an educational experience that is authentic, practical and deeply connected to the future of Africa’s wildlife.
